SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Morley is an epidemiologist, animal scientist, and veterinary internal medicine specialist who studies infectious diseases in animals and people. His research uses advanced molecular tools to investigate health and disease pathogenesis in animals, methods for disease prevention and mitigation, microbial ecology, and impacts of antimicrobial drug use. The goal of these efforts is to conduct state-of-the-art, highly impactful research to improve the sustainability of animal agriculture to provide an abundant and healthy food supply for a global society. In 2019, Dr. Morley was appointed the Director of Research for the Veterinary Education, Research & Outreach (VERO) Program in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University, and he was named the Sally Rau McIntosh Endowed Chair for Veterinary Strategic Initiatives at Texas A&M University in 2022. He previously served for 20 years as Professor of Epidemiology and the Director of Infection Control at Colorado State University and the Colorado School of Public Health, and was an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University. He is also a recognized authority on managing infectious diseases in animal populations and has consulted on infection control and biosecurity issues at veterinary hospitals, veterinary colleges, and animal production facilities on four continents. His publication record includes more than 240 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 435 proceeding abstracts and papers. The impact of his body of work is indicated by more than 15,500 citations by other scientists, a career h-index of 68, and an i10 index of 213 (last 5 years: >7,000 citations, h-index of 43, and i10 index of 142). Dr. Morley is ranked in the top 70 Veterinary and Animal Science Scientists in the U.S. by Research.com.
